With her parents out of town, Emily Elizabeth is placed under the care of her irresponsible Aunt Abby. The girl then adopts a cute little red puppy, keeping it as her own little secret. But when the puppy starts growing into a gigantic dog that wreaks havoc all across New York, she realises that she will not be able to keep him secret for long.
